FAQs
What does 'anonymous' mean?
Remaining anonymous means nobody will know who you are unless you tell them.
How do you guarantee anonymity?
Calls and forms are never traced or recorded. There is no 1471 facility or call line identifier and our agents will check the information they are given and ensure that any identifying details are removed.
Who answers calls to the Integrity Line?
Calls to the Integrity Line will be answered by a dedicated team of call agents who are employed by Crimestoppers and based at the Crimestoppers' Bureau. Crimestoppers is an independent UK-wide charity working to stop crime. The call agents are all trained in HR, criminal and professional standard issues. If a client has specific requirements our agents will receive training to encompass their needs.
What is the Crimestoppers' Bureau?
The Crimestoppers' Bureau is a contact (or call) centre run by Crimestoppers — an independent UK-wide charity working to stop crime. In addition to the Integrity Line, the Crimestoppers Bureau also answers calls to the Crimestoppers' 0800 555 111 number, on behalf of the entire UK police force, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Can I visit the Crimestoppers' Bureau?
Any existing or potential client is welcome to contact us to arrange a visit.
Crimestoppers offers rewards. Does the Integrity Line?
No rewards will be offered for the Integrity Line unless an organisation specifically desires to use rewards as a means to secure information.
Can I email information to the Integrity Line?
Information can be sent online securely with the Integrity Line's anonymous Giving Information Form. When you fill out an online form you will have the option to register for two-way communication. This will allow us to ask you any additional questions we may have about your information.
What are the benefits of using the online form?
Integrity line users can give information about wrongdoing from the convenience of their desk.
People who have information about wrongdoing may also find this less intimidating than speaking to a call agent.
Does the online form ensure the same standard of anonymity as the phone line?
The information will be sent to us over a secure internet connection which makes sure you, and your computer, are anonymous. We use SSL security — that's the same encryption many banks use. Our call handlers read what you have sent us and will take out any information that may identify you before forwarding it to the relevant professional standard unit.
Which companies and police forces are already signed up to the Integrity Line?
Existing clients include almost a third of all UK police forces, a number of banks, law enforcement agencies and overseas authorities.
What information do you take?
The integrity line will take all information whether it is HR, criminal activity or health and safety related. This can include:
- Misuse of the internet
- Bullying
- Stealing
- Fraud
- Substance/alcohol abuse
- Falsifying time sheets
